St. Charles Learning Center
The St. Charles Learning Center is a center-based program providing learning experiences in self-contained classes for students with orthopedic, physical disabilities and other's that require close medical monitoring. Instruction is provided for students ages 5 through 21 in groupings no larger than 12.

Instruction areas include:
Functional academics
State mandated curriculam
Daily living skills
Communication skills
Social /Behavioral skills
Prevocational skills

The primary goal of the St. Charles program is to assist each student to compensate for physical and motoric deficits to maximize academic skills for the purpose of attaining goals as noted in the Individual Education Plans.

Related services are provided with health and support services provided by social workers, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists and other medical support personnel.

Program features include:
Access to full range of mandated state curriculam
Intensive physical and occupational therapies
Medical monitoring
Specialized sensory, communication and adaptive equipment and materials
Individualized assessment and educational planning
Individualized instructional computer methods
Collaborative model
Close proximity to a hospital
Physically protective environment

Exit criteria for students with more intensive service needs; that is, those requiring a 24-hour medical setting, allows for placement in such a facility.

Exit criteria for students with less intensive service's needs; that is, those requiring no intensive rehabilitation services, allows for placement in the following District-based program

Premm and Terryville Learning Centers
Regular education program with resource room and/or related services
Forest Brook Learning Center
North Country Learning Center
