| Psychiatric Emergency Room |
| A psychiatric emergency room provides for psychiatric and medical evaluation of a person on
a 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week basis. The purpose is to determine whether or not the person
requires hospitalization. If indicated, the person may be hospitalized at that hospital's inpatient unit, or a unit in another hospital. If hospitalization is not indicated referrrals for other services can be made. |
