Social Services
The county departments of social services provide a wide range of assistance to individuals and families. Services include financial assistance, emergency housing, medical
assistance (Medicaid), day care services, homemaker services, services to families where
child abuse or neglect has been a problem (Child Protective Services), placement of children
in foster homes, group homes or residential treatment (Foster Care Services), adoption
services, counseling to families with a child at risk of being placed in foster care (Preventive
Services), services to victims of domestic violence, and 24 hour telephone emergency assistance. |
