A technology-rich district, Patchogue-Medford has offered a comprehensive education to its students for more than a century. Through the years, the district has been recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, technological innovation and its school volunteer programs.
The district is located on the south shore of Long Island in the Town of Brookhaven. It encompasses Patchogue and areas of East Patchogue, North Patchogue and Medford.
The mission of the district, in partnership with the community, is to provide all students with equal opportunities to achieve academic excellence, develop self-esteem and become intellectually and socially productive members of society.
Its goals are to improve students' abilities to: successfully participate in a competitive work force; develop skills and knowledge required for productive participation in a globally interdependent economy; develop skills knowledge and attitudes that are necessary for effective participation as informed citizens in a democratic society; and, to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes required to lead a healthy and aesthetically fulfilling life.
The Patchogue-Medford SD is comprised of eleven schools of which seven are elementary, three are middle schools and one is a high school. It employs 584 full-time teachers, 13 part-time teachers and 252 operational personnel.
The student population numbers 8,916, ranging from 4 years of age to 18. BOCES students may be up to 21 years of age.
