This year the Toys "R" Us store located in Bay Shore, New York employed a student from Eastern Suffolk BOCES. In a cooperative work experience program housed at the Islip Career Center, the student was able to deomonstrate her occupational skills while earning money. The student was assisted with job applications and other paperwork needed to secure the job.
Job coaching at the job site to teach or support the student was provided as needed. The student had a very successful year! The support and cooperation provided by the staff at Toys "R" Us helped build self-esteem and provided an opportunity for real work experience and career exploration for the student..
